The Racer
A go-kart on a mission. The MINI Cooper Clubman was probably the most fun-to-drive of all the cars we've driven. Fast (but not stupid fast) acceleration, tight steering, powerful brakes, and comfortable seats. This is the car for those who like to imagine every road is a race track.
The Penny Pincher
Though the MINI Cooper Clubman has a higher base price than most sub-compacts, it offers so much more as well. It gets 1 MPG less than a 2-door Toyota Yaris, yet it offers driving characteristics and a substantial feeling that can only be found on cars costing twice as much.
MINIs also hold their value extremely well since there are so few in the American market and are for drivers who love driving.
The Environmentalist
We wouldn't consider the Clubman an environmentalists car. It's not electric, a hybrid, or a diesel. It is highly efficient though!
It averaged about 37 miles per gallon during a 200-mile highway trip at speeds around 75 MPH. It did pretty well around town too, averaging about 32 MPG with modest acceleration and blasts of quick acceleration from a stand-still. The EPA rates it at 28 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway, which shows that great mileage is easily achievable in the Clubman.
The Cooper Clubman is also a tier-2 ultra-low emissions vehicle.
