Beginning today, Mazda is offering their first ever smart phone app to be used in conjunction with the company's vehicle lineup. The app offers roadside assistance, emergency tips and a helpful maintenance reminder to complement the Mazda ownership experience.

Mazda Assist as it is being called marks the industry's first interactive roadside app. After requesting assistance, you are prompted for information regarding the situation. The program can even specifically ask whether a usable spare tire is on-board. GPS technology verifies your exact location. Then, the app supplies an ETA and notification when a competent service provider arrives on the scene.

The app is currently available to both iPhone 3G and 3GS users. Unfortunately the app is not functional if you're just rockin' the iPod touch. No word yet if the app will be available on other phone platforms.

To download this to your phone now, check out Mazda's roadside assistance site, or visit the iPhone App Store.
