Honda is recalling over 400,000 Honda Odyssey and Element vehicles from the 2007 to 2008 model year because air can center the vehicle stability assist (VSA) modular pump during the self-check process that occurs each time the engine is started. Honda says that it's possible for enough air to enter the system to the point where the brake pedal will feel soft or lower to the floor on the Odyssey and Element.

If the Odyssey or Element owner does not have their brakes serviced or any maintenance performed for a period of time, the system will accumulate enough air to reduce braking performance and lead to a crash.

Honda says that it is notifying owners and dealers will repair the VSA modulator by removing any existing air in the braking system, and applying sealant and caps to prevent air from entering again. Honda owners can call 1-800-999-1009 to see if their vehicle is included in the recall.

theCD's take: If you have an Element or are one of those with a minivan fetish, get your brakes checked out ASAP!
