Though the Swedish car maker, Volvo, first mentioned making a four-door variant of its distinctive C30 coupe over two years ago, there has been little word about it, until now. Australian car site, CarsGuide, was tipped off to the arrival of a new compact crossover from Volvo.
The new model will be called the XC30. It will be a small crossover pitted against the likes of the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and the recently introduced MINI Countryman. The Volvo XC30 would be Volvo's fourth crossover vehicle after the XC90, XC70, and XC60.
It has been stated that the XC30 would resemble the "chunky styling" seen on the XC60, however, I believe Volvo will not be very conservative in the styling department on the XC30, since the C30 showcases some bold styling cues that separates it from the rest of the Volvo lineup.
We expect to see the a concept version of this car either late this year or early next year along side a production version of V60 wagon that will replace the V50 wagon and be visually similar to the 2011 S60 sedan.
