It’s no secret that sports stars have a tendency to buy absolutely beautiful cars… and then ruin them. The closest that some of us will ever get to seeing these vehicles is a poster on the bedroom wall. Who knows, maybe you’ll see one on the streets if you’re lucky.

Stephen Ireland, a footballer (or soccer player to us Americans) for Manchester City Football Club proudly continued this tradition when he purchased himself an Audi R8. Ireland's R8 was originally painted red and white, the color of cross-town rivals Manchester United. Fans and teammates alike were outraged by Ireland's choice of car color, eventually forcing him to get the car repainted. Stephen Ireland's Audi R8 is now painted sky blue and white, Manchester City's colors (seen at the top of the page).
The new paint job reportedly cost anywhere between £10,000 and £25,000. The car is now for sale on Auto Trader for a cool £69,950. Lot of money, that.
Stephen Ireland has a history of ruining beautiful cars though. What we have here, folks, is a repeat offender.

theCD's take: Someone give this man the keys to a Honda Civic and let him do whatever the hell he wants with it. Just let the good stuff be!
