The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into complaints that the power steering system in 2005-2009 Chevrolet Cobalts can fail.
The NHTSA says there are 1,132 complaints about the Cobalt's electric power steering, including reports of eleven accidents and one injury. This issue affects about 905,000 of these compact Chevys.
Much of the complaints about the steering system were drivers saying they couldn't stay in their traffic lane and steering becoming difficult.
We'll keep you up-to-date on information as it's released.

I have a 2007 Chevy Cobolt. I got a new motor in the car because something happened to the orginal one. Then shortly after this got fixed my power steering went. It did gets fixed! Should i still be worried?
Kristin, you may want to take your car in to see a dealer if it wasn't fixed under the recall the first time. If it is affected, the dealer should fix it free of charge. Chevrolet is accepting complaints at (800) 222-1020.
