Opel has finally released photographs of the next Astra that we here at The College Driver have been following since the first spy shots. It will be making its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show and be coming to showrooms as a 2010 model.

Even though it was in the United States for only one year, this is now the 10th generation of the Astra in Europe. The redesigned model is more modern and flowing than the current Astra, much like the new Opel Insignia. It moves up market with features like Adaptive HID headlights that include LED daytime running lights like the new Audi's, and GM's advanced front camera system.

The camera system has been in development for quite some time now and is able to recognize road signs and warn the driver accordingly. The system is one part of many components that will likely be a part of GM's Vehicle to Vehicle communications system, which should help keep drivers aware of their surroundings.

Several different diesel and gasoline engine variations will be available in Europe, but it is yet to be announced if the new Astra will be coming to the U.S. given the For Sale title that Saturn is now wearing.
