The two pickup truck recalls were announced today by the NHTSA, one for the 2009 Dodge Ram and the other for the 2009 Ford F-150 .
Over 37,000 Ram's are being recalled because of a software programming issue in the HVAC control module with manual temperature controls. The issue could cause the windshield defrosting and defogging functions of the system to be inoperative.
If you can't see out of your windshield, this could obviously lead to a crash. Dodge says to take your truck to your local Dodge dealer to have the control module reprogrammed free of charge.
For the F-150, only about 9,000 vehicles are being recalled. The issue is with the brake lamp switch and that it could be improperly adjusted, which adds a delay from when the brake pedal is depressed to when the brake lights actually illuminate. Under mild braking, the lights might not even come on.
Dealers will inspect the switch and adjust it if necessary free of charge.
