The 2010 Insight made its official debut at the show on Sunday. Initial thoughts on the vehicle are that it is very similar to the current Prius in terms of styling, with the same aero look that symbolizes a hybrid.
It will go head to head with the Prius but supposedly cost less. It is missing a few key features that the Prius has though, such as push-button ignition and the large touch-screen LCD.
We had two staff of The College Driver sit inside, 6' 1'' Corey Mack in the front and 5' 8'' Dan Cirillo in the back, and both felt cramped. We found the armrest to be quite small, about a quarter the size of a shoebox and very shallow. We could not find many other interior storage spaces, other than an OK sized glove box and a coin holder. Other than that, the rear cargo area is similar to the Prius.
It comes with all of the expected safety systems including Vehicle Stability Assist and six airbags, and we're sure it'll get excellent ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS.
TheCD's take: It has the looks and the efficiency, but storage space for a couple pens and quarters is somewhat disappointing.
