NHTSA is reporting that there were 12,998 DUI fatalities in 2007 representing a 3.7% nationwide decrease versus 2006, in which 13,491 people were killed. The announcement also noted that motorcycle rider deaths increased in 25 states, which US Transportation Secretary Mary Peters, called 'disappointing'. Peters then went on to say that the fact that drunk driving fatalities were down in 34 states, is a sign that 'more drivers are getting the message'.
TheCD's Take: There is no safe way to drive drunk. If you're drunk and the party sucks, stay on the couch and go to sleep. If not, you or someone else might look like this.
