Chrysler is recalling 667, 2012 model year vehicles, including the 200, Town and Country, Dodge Charger, Durango, Grand Caravan, and Journey, and Jeep Grand Cherokee manufactured from 8/31/11 through 9/13/11. The affected vehicles have the 3.6-liter engine and experience connecting rod bearing failure due to debris inside the engine block.
The connecting rod failing will lead to engine seizure, which the NHTSA said may increase the risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners and replace the engine free of charge. The recall is expected to begin this month. Owners can contact 1-800-853-1403.
