According to the notice posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Ford says that some 23,688 Ford Ranger models from the model year 2010 (manufactured in between October 15, 2009 and May 19, 2010) are being sent back to the dealers to get a fuel leak problem fixed.
Ford says that the problem affecting the models is the engine fuel line in the area of the throttle body shield. Because the component lacks a properly installed cover, the edge of the shield might contact the fuel line and cause it to rupture.
Obviously, if the right conditions are met, the problem might turn deadly serious. In the event that enough fuel leaks onto the shield, all it keeps the cars from bursting into flames is a spark of some kind. So far, Ford received no reports of fires caused by the problem.
The recall will officially begin on March 17, with the owners asked to take their cars in for repairs. The dealers are advised to trim the throttle body shield away from the fuel line and inspect it for leaks.
Should a rupture or puncture be found, Ford's personnel will replace the line as well. As it usually happens in these cases, all the repairs and inspections will be done free of charge for the owners.

There are more sophisticated pickups on the market, both in style and function but at the end of the day, what any buyer wants from a pickup will be determined by what use is going to be put. Is it primarily for posing in the driveway, a poor man’s SUV or will it actually be put to work for its living?
In the case of the Ford Ranger, it is more of a work-horse than a clothes-horse and yet the ride quality is such that now it really can cosset and comfort the bits that other pickups will shake and shoogle about.
