The scion tC has been scion's best selling model since it was introduced. The tC, which has always been scion's most conservatively styled car, may be getting a new five-door variant to garner buyers who may want something a little bigger but not as "distinct" as scion's other offerings.
I'm no longer really sure who scion's target buyer really is, and according to the same interview by Ward's, neither does scion. But young people do have a draw to these vehicles. Though I do agree this new tC looks better than the previous version, I still think scion could turn it up a couple more notches in the styling department, particularly with their grey on grey interiors.
Ranting aside, a five-door scion tC makes sense as it is difficult to put even one person in the back of any scion tC, new or old. As for right now, the 5-door scion tC is purely talk but it could show up in concept form at an upcoming auto show.
