Ever wonder what happens when a traffic cone goes into retirement? Does it become the life of a drinking party as a funnel, or maybe a cool hat for those warm summer days? Or maybe... A cool new kind of traffic light?
As a part of Inhabitat's 2010 Spring Greening Competition, which challenges designers to "breathe new life into old junk", one such entry, called the Cone Light, takes six orange traffic cones and turns them into a cool accent light. Resembling a six-point Moravian Star, each cone contains one light that gives off an orange glow.
However, for those wanting a warmer feel, I suggest switching to red or orange LEDs. This concept is so cool that we at The College Driver will be building one in a couple weeks and will post an online video showing how to make it and different variations on the design.
