Subaru and the NHTSA have issued a recall for over 29,000, 2010 Legacy and Outback vehicles. A crack or split can occur in the continuously-variable transmission cooler hose, which can result in a fluid leak. If all the fluid leaks out while driving, the vehicle will come to a stop, which could possibly result in a crash.
Subaru will notify owners and have dealers replace the cooler hose free of charge when it becomes available. The automaker has yet to say when the part will be available. If you're concerned that your vehicle may be affected, you can contact Subaru at 1-856-488-8500.
