Though the state may be in a financial crisis, it still doesn't mean that California has given up on embracing emerging technologies. Last month, California Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger officially endorsed a bill that would give California residents a $1500 rebate if they purchased select electric motorcycles.

Only the Zero DS dual sport and the Zero S super moto, both Zero Motorcycles, are eligible for the rebate. After the rebate and 10% federal tax credit, it brings the price down to $7,495, which is a 25% reduction from the MSRP.

For those of you not familiar with Zero Motors, they are a California-based motorcycle manufacturer that exclusively sells electric motorcycles and dirt bikes. Each bike features an aircraft-grade aluminum frame that can weigh as little as 13 pounds.

If you ask me, this one of the better incentives to promote clean transportation. For what these motorcycles cost, almost anyone can afford them, and it will help support the local economy.
